short curriculum
Wouter van Belle studied piano and organ at the former Dutch Institute for Catholic Church Music in Utrecht and at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. He was appointed to the post of Organist at the Cathedral of St Catherine, the seat of the Archbishop of Utrecht, on the 1st of May, 1985. His responsibilities include accompanying the Cathedral choir, maintenance of the Maarschalkerweerd organ, and the commissioning of a new choir organ. His solo-repertoire concentrates on 19th and 20th century music, with special attention to the works of French and Dutch composers in this period, and to the work of his famous predecessors in the Utrecht Cathedral: Hendrik Andriessen and Herman Strategier.

Wouter van Belle is also the piano accompanist of the Utrecht Municipal Choir ('Toonkunstkoor') and the Residentie Bachkoor in The Hague. He performs as organist, pianist, and as accompanist of many choirs and vocalists in the Randstad area of The Netherlands. In Utrecht, Wouter van Belle also works as a teacher of both organ and piano. Most recently, he has become increasingly active in the composition of vocal music.
